Artificial intelligence has been a game-changer for photographers.
We now have AI photo editing software that can transform the look of an image in mere seconds. We have AI photo organization tools to manage files and find things quicker.
And we can do magical things like changing the weather or removing an annoying tourist with just the click of a button.
But beyond manipulating images, did you know that you can you use AI prompts to improve your workflows and boost your business?
Master the art of AI prompts, and you can revamp your webpage, write personalised client emails, ramp up your marketing, and more.
In this article, I run through the many ways you can use AI to lighten your workload.
Read on, and try some of these prompts to inspire AI to write what you need.
37 AI Prompts for Photographers
Whether you’re using ChatGPT prompts or other ChatGPT alternatives like Claude or Gemini, there are many ways to benefit from AI as a photographer – and for free, too.
I’ve broken this article down into seven sections to target different areas where a photographer can utilize AI text prompts. Let’s jump in.
Marketing and Advertising
Advertising is crucial for any business – no marketing results in no work.
If you forget to market your business, you can be sure you’ll spend a lot of time at home twiddling your thumbs.
You might be the Leonardo da Vinci of golf photography, but if no one knows about your incredible talent, who will hire you?
And trust me, I know, marketing is a pain. The number one groan in my photography business is marketing, but when I do it, I see the results – new clients book sessions and past clients return.
Marketing is essential, and I can do it (if you force me), but it’s not where my talent lies.

Ok, so how can we use AI for marketing? Oh, so many ways. You can use it to create jazzed-up SEO titles for blog posts, write promotional emails for clients, and compile Instagram posts.
Here are a few AI prompts you can use to vamp up your advertising.
1. “Suggest 10 Instagram caption ideas for a music concert photoshoot.”
2. “Write a blog post outline for my website about the importance of lighting in photography.”
3. “Create a promotional email newsletter to introduce my new portrait photography package.”
4. “Draft social media posts highlighting my top action shots of the month.”
5. “Suggest 5 creative ways to promote family school holiday photo sessions on social media.”
Revamp Your Photography Website
Maybe your website looks like mine did at the end of last year, decidedly outdated and not very inviting.
I like to revise my website and freshen it regularly, keeping in mind current trends and how it might appear to new customers.
After all, my website is the front door to my business; no one is going to bother entering if it’s not professional.
AI prompts can be used to overhaul your website with prompts designed to target specific areas.

Client Communication
Cut out the hours spent deliberating over words and phrases while trying to compose the perfect email for clients.
Instead of mulling over text on what to say and what to include, hand it straight over to competent AI.
One of the emails I avoided was chasing late payments. In the emails I drafted to clients, my tone and text always seemed clunky.

AI will write a draft email and give you the option to set the email’s tone. You can select if you want a chummy vibe, personable, or professional, and AI will adapt the text to suit your preference.
