Hi! I am Imroz from Hishutter Photography.
Halima and I run this business together. Halima has been part of the wedding photography industry for almost ten years, right after her graduation in photography from UNC Asheville.
But editing was not her favorite thing. It got to the point where she decided to change careers completely and became a Ceramic Instructor.
Meanwhile, I found my love for editing and ever-evolving gear. It was during this time that friends approached us with a wedding request, urging us out of our retirement, and that was the beginning of Hishutter Photography.
It was their trust in us to capture their big day that ignited a spark in us and how well we complement each other.
Sony a7 II – it all started with a Sony a7 I, and I was very happy with its performance until I tried the Sony a7 II. It was a significant improvement in every way possible, with the main reason for the upgrade being the dual card slots and autofocus.
I have been using this camera since its release, and only when Sony decides to release the a7 V will I think about upgrading.
Tamron 17-28mm f/2.8 Di III RXD – I use this lens maybe two percent of the time for those ultrawide dramatic shots of the couple with a beautiful background paired with some off-camera flash.
Sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM Macro – this is the macro lens that I love. Though I use it only for the ring shots, I enjoy every second of it.
I pair it with a couple of off-camera flashes because of the narrow depth of field to get most of the ring in focus. I sometimes add twinkle lights in the background and some water spray for that oomph effect.
Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 Di III and the Sigma Art 85mm f/1.4 DG HSM – these two are the breadwinners for me! I use one of these lenses most of the time. The zoom lens for the ceremony and dance floor shots. Often, I find myself using these two interchangeably.
Godox AD100 Pro – this tiny soda bottle-sized flash is a workhorse. I use this most of the time with angler fastbox. Though its power is not super high, I like it for its size and speed and how easy it is to use with a softbox.
Godox V1s – this stays on my camera during the indoor reception and dance floor periods. Sometimes, I hold in my hand like a statue of liberty to give the subjects some directional lighting.
Some other accessories I fell in love with are the Peak Designs Strap and Peak Design Capture Clip.
I started using them when I was doing rock climbing photography, as my camera used to sit nice and snug on my harness.
Now, I still use them in weddings, but I use the Peak Design Capture Clip on the shoulder strap of the backpack.
I have been trying different bags to carry all my gear efficiently. One bag I really love is the Vanguard Divider Bag 53L. This is a briefcase-shaped bag, and all the gear I need for a wedding fits into it nicely.
I usually leave it in the car and use another small bag to carry what I need.
