My name is Jose Mosquera and I’m a documentary wedding photographer in Galicia, Spain.
Fifteen years ago, since the birth of my daughter, photography became very important in my life, and fourteen years ago, I photographed my first wedding.
Since then, I’ve photographed more than three hundred weddings.
I have always worked with Nikon using the D70, D200, D300s, D700, D800, D3s, D4, D850, and D5.
It’s the system I’ve always been most comfortable with, reliable, fast cameras with fantastic image quality.
I currently work with the Nikon Z8, and a couple of years ago I dabbled with Fujifilm, and the XPro3 became my go-to camera.
Camera feel is very important to me.
Nikon Z8 – This is my primary camera for work, and like all Nikon cameras, it’s very reliable, fast, and offers excellent image quality.
For the way I work, it’s very important to go unnoticed, and this camera is silent! It’s fantastic that people can’t hear me when I’m taking pictures.
Fujifilm XPro3 – I’ve always been drawn to Fujifilm cameras, and when I tried the XPro3, I fell in love at first sight. It’s discreet, beautiful, and quiet. Besides working with it, it’s always with me every day.
Nikon 35mm f/1.8 Z – This is my primary lens and the one that I could use to do the entire job on a wedding day; it’s my preferred focal length.
Nikon 58mm f/1.4 G – My telephoto lens. The lens I use for portraits has something special that I love.
Nikon 24mm f/1.8 G – I use this G lens instead of a Z lens because I rarely need to change it, only when I want to open up the shot a bit more.
Fujifilm 23mm f/2 – This is equivalent to a 35mm full-frame. I love Fujifilm’s f/2 lenses because they’re small, sealed, and of high quality.
Fujifilm 50mm F/2 – This is the lens I always use on the XPRO3 at weddings; the second camera body typically has a telephoto lens.
Fujifilm 16mm f/2 – Although I don’t use this particular lens frequently, it is always in my bag, just in case.
Profoto A1 – I have two flashes, and since I’ve had a Profoto, the flash has never failed. As with the rest of my equipment, what I value most is their reliability. I only use these flash units at parties or in very dark churches.
Manfrotto LED – I always keep this in my pocket, ready for creative or emergency lighting needs.
Think Tank Retrospective 30 V2.0 – I love this bag; carrying it on the side of my body makes it easier to access the inside without having to leave it on the floor. It has lots of capacity and is very elegant.
Camera Raw and Photoshop – I’ve always worked with this program, and it provides everything that I need for editing.
I think the most important thing about equipment is being comfortable with it. I spend many hours with cameras, and in addition to providing quality in the final result, they have to convey a sense of accomplishment.
My current equipment enables me to thoroughly enjoy the process of taking photographs.
