OM Systems has revealed updates to the M.Zuiko 17mm f/1.8 II and 25mm f/1.8 II prime lenses in conjunction with the launch of the OM-3.
OM System’s M.Zuiko f/1.8 primes have proven incredibly popular due to their compact nature, stunning optics, and bright max apertures.
The Mark II version of the M.Zuiko 17mm f/1.8 and 25mm f/1.8 have been redesigned to match the aesthetic appeal of the new OM-3.
OM Systems M.Zuiko 17mm f/1.8 II
The original 17mm f/1.8 was released in 2012 as a budget-friendly micro-four-thirds prime lens with a plastic housing and a manual focus clutch.
OM Systems’s new M.Zuiko 17mm f/1.8 II retains the same size while offering a far superior build quality with an all-metal construction and an IPX1-rated splash and dust-proof design.
The manual focus clutch has been removed; however, the new manual focus ring has a buttery-smooth glide and just the right amount of resistance.
The compact micro-four-thirds OM lens features a wide and bright f/1.8 maximum aperture, a 34mm full-frame equivalent focus distance, and a natural 65º field of view.
The M.Zuiko 17mm f/1.8 II houses nine elements in six groups, including a DSA element, two aspherical elements, and a single high refractive index element to deliver superior image sharpness and color reproduction.
Furthermore, the Mark II lens delivers a 9.84″ (25cm) minimal focus distance and a fast, silent autofocus drive, ideal for photography and videography.
The OM Systems M.Zuiko 17mm f/1.8 II measures a compact 2.3 x 1.5″ (57.6 x 37.6mm) and weighs 4 oz (112g), making it an ideal all-day companion for the new OM-3.

Like the OM 17mm f/1.8 II, the new M.Zuiko 25mm f/1.8 II has received a welcome overhaul, delivering an all-metal, weather-resistant body and overall optical enhancement.
The new M.Zuiko 25mm f/1.8 II is another compact yet fast prime lens with a 50mm full frame equivalent focal distance, making it ideal for portraiture.
The lens assembly houses nine elements in seven groups, including a pair of aspherical elements and OM’s Zero lens coating for optimal image quality.
OM’s 25mm f/1.8 II delivers fast and quiet focus performance while ensuring optimal subject separation and background blur wide open at f/1.8.
The compact and lightweight M.Zuiko lens measures 2.3 x 1.7″ (59.4 x 42mm) and weighs 5.5 oz (156g). The combined weight of the new OM-3, M.Zuiko 17mm II, and M.Zuiko 25mm II is 1.46lb (664g) – ideal for everyday carry or travel.
OM system’s new compact MFT primes are available now for pre-order. The M.Zuiko 17mm f/1.8 II costs around US$550.00, and the M.Zuiko 25mm f/1.8 II costs around US$500.00.
