The Tokina atx-m 11-18mm f/2.8 X is a sharp, fast, wide-angle zoom lens for Fujifilm X-mount cameras, such as the flagship X-T5 or entry-level X-M5.
Tokina’s latest APS-C lens offers a flexible wide zoom with an 11 to 18mm focal range equivalent to a 16.5-27mm full-frame lens. It delivers a versatile 104.3° to 76.7° field of view and a close-up working distance of 7.5″ (19cm).
Kenko Tokina Co., Ltd. is proud to announce the sales release of the Tokina atx-m 11-18mm F2.8 X lens for Fujifilm APS-C size mirrorless cameras.
Internally, the atx-m 11-18mm f/2.8 X houses 13 elements in 11 groups, including two aspherical and two super low-dispersion (SD) glass elements to effectively hand chromatic aberrations while delivering excellent image resolution and color.
Tokina’s X-mount wide zoom lens boasts a 9-bladed aperture and a relatively fast f/2.8 maximum aperture. The constant f/2.8 max aperture also delivers excellent subject separation and pleasing background blur at the 18mm end.
As an autofocus lens, it relies on an STM focusing motor that effortlessly matches the pace of the Fujifilm X Processor.
The silent autofocus system also supports videography applications when shooting with a Fujifilm video-centric camera such as the X-H2S.
The Tokina atx-m 11-18mm f/2.8 X is a compact and lightweight addition to any Fujifilm kit, as it weighs 11.2 oz (318g) and measures 2.9 x 2.9″ (74.4 x 74.1mm) or 3.26″ (82.8mm) when zoomed out.
While the wide-angle lens features the necessary zoom and manual focus rings, it does not have a manual aperture control.
The new Tokina atx-m 11-18mm f/2.8 X is an ideal entry-level to enthusiast-level wide-angle zoom lens that’s cheaper and lighter than either the Fujifilm 10-24mm f/4 R OIS WR or XF 8-16mm f/2.8 R LM WR options.
Tokina says the new Tokina atx-m 11-18mm f/2.8 X for Fujifilm X mount cameras is set to ship on 14 March 2025. Preorders are already available at retail for around US$600.00.
For comparison, the Fujifilm 10-24mm f/4 R OIS WR retails for around US$1,000.00, and the XF 8-16mm f/2.8 R LM WR for around US$1,500.00.
