The third-party lens and accessory manufacturer has launched the all-new Viltrox AF 35mm F1.7 Air APS-C lens.
In the space of a few years, Viltrox has taken the stage as a promising third-party lens developer for a wide range of popular lens-mount mirrorless cameras.
The Viltrox AF 35mm f/1.7 Air APS-C lens is a compact, lightweight, affordable, and well-engineered standard prime lens for all current-generation APS-C camera systems.
Viltrox’s new APS-C AF 35mm f/1.7 AIR lens will be available for Fujifilm X, Sony E, and Nikon Z. It is unknown if the lens will also be available for Canon RF cropped sensor cameras.

The Viltrox AF 35mm F1.7 Air APS-C lens offers photographers an affordable third-party option while delivering excellent image quality in all lighting conditions.
The 35mm f/1.7 is almost pocketable. It measures 2.51 x 2.22″ (64 x 56.4mm), weighs a minuscule 6oz (170g), and supports a 52mm filter size.
Given its size, weight, and 52mm full-frame equivalent focal distance, the Viltrox 35mm AIR is ideal for street portraits and travel. It’s also a popular focal distance for on-the-go videography.
The internal lens assembly features eleven elements in nine groups, including ED and nano-coating glass, to deliver sharp, detailed images while preserving accurate color.
Viltrox’s AF 35mm F1.7 Air APS-C delivers reliable focus performance thanks to a silent STM motor drive that complements in-camera focus and tracking performance.
Putting aside all the specs, Viltrox claims the new prime lens and its fast f/1.7 max aperture delivers dreamy bokeh and incredible low-light performance.
Given the wide aperture and 9-bladed diaphragm, it’s easy to see why this claim is appealing.
The Viltrox AF 35mm F1.7 Air APS-C fast prime is available for Fujifilm X, Sony E, and Nikon Z and is currently listed on the Viltrox site for US$179.00.
